Bampton Charter Fair

Fair Transport Arrangements

Car Parking & Road Closures

There are road closures for the Fair and both roads through Bampton - the B3227 (from the junction at Morebath Hill to the junction at West Street) and Brook Street/Briton Street are closed to through traffic on Fair Day from midnight Wednesday until midnight Thursday and diversions will be signposted.

Official Temporary Traffic Order for road closures - here

Bampton Fair MapCar parking is available (£5 including free Fair Programme) - the main car park is on the north side of the town at the recreation ground, and parking for the pony sales is off the Old Tiverton Road - both will be clearly signposted. Both car parks are run by volunteers and monies raised support Bampton Amateur Football Club, the Scouts and street entertainments at the Fair.

Disabled badge holders may prefer to use the Doctors' Surgery car-park in Barnhay - enter Bampton via the South Molton Road and show badge at barrier.

Please avoid parking within the road closures or on coned roads from 16.00 Wednesday to midnight Thursday and be advised that the police may be removing vehicles and issuing parking tickets.

Coaches

No parking spaces for coaches are available - it is not possible for coaches to use the Luttrell Farm or Motte car park as the access roads are very narrow. Those intending to bring coach parties MUST BOOK IN ADVANCE - contact the Town Clerk 07745 210 493

Coaches coming to the Fair should arrive via the A398, turning off at the Exeter Inn. They must then turn to drop off their customers just at the outskirts of the town at Scotts Business Park EX16 9DN, the first opportunity to turn left on this road. After this point there is no opportunity for coaches to park or turn, and they would cause major traffic disruption! DOWNLOAD HERE a map to show coach drop-off.
Passengers can take the safe footpath through the houses down into the middle of the town. See map.
