South West In Bloom

This competition, run by the South West Tourism Board in cooperation with the Royal Horticultural Society, covers cities, towns, and villages in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Bath, Bristol, and Wiltshire. We used to compete for the 'Cox Cup' for villages with a population from 1,000 to 1,999. The entrant who gains the highest number of points from all of the eleven population categories is presented with the 'Abiss Trophy', the top award. From 2002: R.H.S. Medals are now given for villages reaching various standards - for a gold award, this requires over 85% of the points.
