Shillingford is a small village just to the east of
Bampton. It lies within the Bampton group of five parishes.

We have had our last meeting of 2015 which was enjoyed by everyone, our Christmas lunch. Thank you Rita for everything you do, all those little goodies which pop out of the bag. Also our appreciation goes to Phyllis who organizes our events calendar. Our competition winner and proud winner of the cup was Amy Well done! Good Luck with trying to keep us all in order with the competitions. Well done to the runner ups it was a very close call. The next meeting will be January 21 Tiverton Pantomime After this we shall be having a house meeting at Wheat Close February 10th 2016 at 2.30pm
This year we will be gliding into our fiftieth year so many memories and events, there are still three founder members which still belong. Have a wonderful Christmas everyone, and have a Prosperous and Healthy New Year 2016

The ladies enjoyed their lunch plus the company of Shirley at Old Well Nursery. It was wonderful to go around the shop which is like an Aladdin's cave. There was something different around every corner.
The ladies agreed where they were going for their next Christmas lunch, which all sounded good.
It was also decided we would book some tickets for Tiverton Pantomime.

The ladies and friends plus spouses joined together and played skittles against Huntsham.
Thank you all for your company and a good game. As Shillingford had not had their spinach that day it tells you the answer. Into training for next April ladies and Gents and we will have another try.
Our next meeting which will be held on November 11th away from home 12 noon meeting up,

The Guild met @ Shillingford Village Hall we had a very varied afternoon starting with a quiz and the usual cup of tea with the answers. Thanks Phyllis it certainly was different, made us think.
Rita followed with some readings from the life in the 1940's and also a poem of the war period.
It then followed by a general discussion of different things in modern life and how life has changed.
We all wished Brenda & Alan a happy future in their new abode, hope to see them both sometime.
If there is any Shillingford ladies who would like to join the Guild, do contact Phyllis and she will
give you an update on what is going on. Our next meeting we will be joining The Over 60's on a trip.

Our outdoor visit, weather wise was a disaster, but as usual we used plan B and had a very enjoyable meeting. “Thank You” Rita for organising this afternoon. (Sorry to Shirley we will catch up at a later date)

June 2015 Thank You to everyone who helped last month before the day and on the lunch day, we had not been home 24hrs from a superb holiday so you can guess things were pushed into a corner . As usual we had yet again a wonderful turn out, and everyone seemed to enjoy their lunch. The next lunch will be 26th August 2015 @ 12.30pm Community Hall Tickets £6.50 from Bampton Fruit & Veg or Costcutters
The ladies enjoyed a trip to Pulhams Mill where they enjoyed some excellent home cooking. The china that it is served on is all hand painted with with farmyard and woodland creatures. As one wondered around the shop all these wonderful things came to view, all ideas for that special event which you have to find a gift for. After you have left the building you stand and listen to the river gently flowing by. It is a very tranquil experience and it lays five minutes away from Wimbleball Lake Brompton Regis. The competition was judged by a member of the staff 1st Joyce 2nd Amy 3rd Phyllis Well done ladies remember the comp for next month. The next outing will be a picnic by the Canal leaving Bampton 12.30pm
The ladies met @ Shillingford Village Hall and welcomed a new member.
Names were took for their next day out which would be June 10th and we would meet at 12 noon.

The Guild once again played their Spring game of Skittles, I don't think we had quite consumed
our spinach for the day. Well done Huntsham and Thank You for your kind hospitality, we all came away well fed and watered.
We will met you all again in the fall of the year.
Our monthly meeting has been spent having our lunch out at The Swan program handed out for the year.
The next meeting will be held at Shillingford Village Hall @ 2.30.pm
The ladies met at Shillingford Village Hall for their 49th AGM, which was held on March 11th 2015.
Some of the members are still remaining from the founder membership.
We all agreed we had a very varied and enjoyable year.

On April 13th we have Skittles at Huntsham 7.30.for 8.pm so all those playing could you consume your spinach and on April 15th we have a lunch out 12.30. for 1.pm.

The Guild members and friends enjoyed a night out at Tiverton Signpost pantomime.
The production was Snow White, again the costumes were as usual very colourful and the humour was really great. Well done to all those who give a marvellous night's entertainment.

A happy New Year to one and all that was a quick descent through December into the New Year.
The Ladies enjoyed their Christmas Lunch at Oake where they enjoyed the traditional Turkey and trimmings. The Pud also looked very appetising so we all came away feeling well fed and watered.
Everyone exchanged Christmas parcels and cards.

The ladies met and enjoyed a lunch at “The Old Well” we browsed and dug deep for those stocking fillers. We were talking amongst ourselves how quick the festive season was creeping up on us this year. We wish all those who have supported us throughout the year A very Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Our next meeting would be our Christmas Lunch 10th December we would be leaving at 12. noon Please remember the competition for the lunch and your little present. I wonder who will have to be doing the polishing next year? Jumble Sale 20th September 2014
The annual Jumble Sale was held at The Community Hall. Thank you to all those people who donated and attended without everyones help it could not take place.

Thank you Huntsham Team for welcoming us once again. We did try our best to to achieve the obvious but once again it alluded us. We will visit you in the Spring again, and perhaps with the aid of some spinach we may achieve our goal.
Goosie Fair @ Tavistock
Well we had a very good day at Goosie Fair the weather was not quite so kind though. The showers were very sharp when they came. I think most of us came home with a lot more than we went with.

The next meeting will be a visit to a Garden Centre plus a lunch, please will you meet in Bampton car park 12.noon.

The meeting took place at The Village hall Rita provided the entertainment for the afternoon. Arrangements were made for The Jumble Sale which will be held on September 20th @ Bampton Community Hall 2.30.p.m. On 6th October we are going to Huntsham to play Skittles 7.30. for 8p.m. We have to provide the supper. The Guild members had another outing away from home, a very enjoyable trip to Bickleigh Mill. The food was great and also we visited the Aladdins cave everything you could wish for. The next meeting will be held @ Shillingford Village Hall 2.30.p.m. on August 13th.

The ladies had an enjoyable afternoon having a bring & share picnic. We sat beside the canal had a lovely refreshing cup of tea and put the world to rights and watched all the goings on.
We even brought the competion with us which we had a good laugh about The funny sea side postcard how humour has changed.

The Guild gathered at Shillingford Village Hall, we had a speaker who opened most of our eyes to facts from the legal department. The title of the speaker was Tax Care & Toyboys who advised us about many things we had thought were all neat & tidy. The Alzheimer's Society representative arrived and we presented a cheque for £500 to this organization. Thank you to everyone who has supported the Guild to get this amount The competition was won by Rita so ladies we must make an effort else we know who is going to win that cup. The Skittle night was held at Huntsham Thank you all for a lovely evening, as usual we lost by a few pins.!!!! The next meeting will be a lunch at the Swan we meet at 12.30.pm on 14th May if you were not at the previous meeting and wish to go please book with Phyllis.

The organisation had enjoyed a varied programme during the year.
Although the Guild has deminished in size we are still doing the charity every year and again we decided to give a further sum away. The Charity throughout 2013 had been for Alziheimer's and the presentation will be next month

The members had a very enjoyable evening watching a performance of Aladdin at Tiverton Pantomime. It still maintains the slap stick humour which the audience joins in with. I think we all go back to our second childhood.
Our March meeting will take place on March 12th which will be the AGM @ Shillingford Village Hall at 2.30.pm.

The Guild held their Charity Jumble Sale on 5th October and made £180 for the charity which is Alzheimer's Society. A big “Thank you” to all those who helped or donated goods for this event.

The ladies joined together for their cream tea and a browse around the nursery. Everyone had different ideas, for stocking fillers for Christmas. There was something for everyone's tastes.
The next event would be the Jumble Sale on October 5th 2013 the venue being The Community Hall 2.30.p.m. If anyone has any produce or goods for the sale they will gratefully be received.
The charity is “Alzheimer's Society” Come and see what bargains are available.
The next date on the agenda will be Skittles at Huntsham on November 25th 8.p.m. (We provide food)
On November 13th we will hold our meeting at Shillingford Hall @ 2.30.p.m.
Also ladies catch up with your program for December and January as Phyllis will require your names for these events.
The meeting had changed from the programme and we met at the hall our usual venue.
We finalised the programme for the coffee evening which will be held on July 10th at 7.p.m..
The charity this year will be in aid of Alzheimer's Society which is the Guilds fund raising cause throughout 2013.
We hope as many people as possible will be able to give the support to the Guild which they will need throughout the year.

The ladies gathered at the hall for their meeting, the chair was taken by Rita. The ladies discussed the future events. The Coffee Evening with entertainment would be taking place on July 10th @ Shillingford Village Hall.
The ladies also received an invite from the Ladies Group to join them on an outing in May.
The next meeting on June 8th has been changed to the 12th and this will be a meeting at the Hall as usual @ 2.30.p.m.

The Guild met at the hall for the meeting which was chaired by Rita who welcomed Dr Gavin Haig as the speaker . The subject was Birds & Butterflies although we traveled down many paths throughout this talk. It makes us wonder how much we miss by not watching nature at work, the peace and tranquility of it all. The herbs which are natural healers and are used for many different drugs. Also how Butterflies live on Nettles which most of us classify as a weed in the garden. In the war time they were used as greens and are still used for their vitamins.
The next meeting on the 22nd April will be Skittles @ Huntsham 7.30. for 8p.m. If you require to come please contact Phyllis

The Guild met for their annual General Meeting,at the Hall. The chairman was providing the tea for members which as usual was absolutely great. Thank You Rita plus half of the committee.
A presentation was made to Hospisecare from Tiverton to their representative Ms Smith who received the grand total of £500 which the members and friends had raised during the year

As you will all guess we have had our Christmas lunch which we all enjoyed at the Anchor Inn Exbridge. The cracker competition was won by Mary T the other entrants were Shirley Rita Serena & Brenda

On a rather damp dismal October day the ladies set off for yet another lunch out. This time it was Knighthayes where we were hoping to view some autumn colour changes on the trees on a stroll around the grounds. I think it is going to take some warm sunny days plus a few of Jack Frosts visits to get all that is requested. Although we did have a shopping experience before we left the establishment which helps the ladies feel they have accomplished something on the way.

September 2012 The weather was taking on the Autumn feel, breeze blowing with intermittent showers. The Guild met at the Village Hall and with Jenny as our tutor we all endeavoured to achieve making some different craft things. Thank you Jenny I think you brought out the best in us with different things coming to face us, by putting our hands in the bag to see what different articles were in there.(made us all think)
Our next event will be the visit to Knightshayes date 10th October will all members be in the car park Bampton by 12.30p.m. Better still give Phyllis the secretary a buzz and give her some idea of numbers On 20th October is our annual Charity Jumble Sale which the proceeds go to Pine Lodge Hospice Care at Tiverton. Please support us as they are a very needy cause. The start of the sale will be 2.p.m. At the Community Hall Bampton. Helpers please can you be there from 12.noon onwards.
Also we are having Skittles on 22nd October at Huntsham 7.30. for 8.p.m. Please have your spinach for lunch as I think we may need it.Our turn to supply the supper so nearer the date just contact Phil again to say what you are suppling. Rita welcomed everyone, the weather had not been kind and it was decided to hold “The Bring and Share” at the hall where the ladies enjoyed a pleasant varied afternoon.
We heard Esme was on the road to recovery which was good news. Minutes were read from the previous meeting and duly signed.

Coffee Evening July 2012
Our annual Coffee Evening was held for “Pine Lodge” Hospice Care @ Tiverton. The event was held at Shillingford Village Hall. We were joined by people from Morebath, Oakford, Clayhanger, Huntsham and Bampton Our entertainment was provided by Diane Thomas The Guild Wishes to Thank everyone who contributed draw prizes towards the evening which was very much appreciated. Also all the members and friends who contributed to-wards the lovely supper which was enjoyed by all. The shield this year was won by Shillingford so Congratulations to those members who worked hard at the competitions The next meeting will be August 8th Picnic bring and share

The interesting life spent going around and being a Post lady in different areas, the different little tales which you would have loved to have put a face to. They say that nothing goes on in the country but how wrong can you be.

The Guild held their AGM at Shillingford Village Hall, Rita Pollard took the chair. The Secretary Carol Jarrett read the minutes and they were duly signed.
Carol then informed the members that she would be standing down this year, and had enjoyed her time with the Guild.
We all thank Carol for all her hard work throughout the years she has held the position.

May 2011. Skittles Huntsham: Thank you Huntsham for the lovely night we all had, sadly we lost again but that did not seem to matter as the saying goes The company and food was good. Look forward to the return match in the autumn of the year.
May 2011 This meeting was the presentation of our last year's charity to Shelter Box £590. The representative of Shelter Box Brian gave us a low down on where the money goes and what goes into the boxes and how they can be tracked. The Coffee Evening with entertainment which will be on July 13th details were finalized and also the next meeting which would be a lunch out. If you were not at the meeting and you want details contact Sue or Phyllis.
July 2011. The Coffee Evening was held at Shillingford Village Hall in aid of "Help The Heroes" The members were joined by guests from other clubs and organizations from the locality. Our appreciation goes to everyone who donated draw prizes and also those who contributed towards the stall. The entertainment for the evening was provided by Betty and Audrey who played music from our era and also some entertaining Devonshire readings Everyone enjoyed supper and finally the moment had come for the announcement of the shield winner for this year. The winners were "The After Eights" from Morebath. Well done to you all. The judge being Ann Barrow.
The next meeting will be a picnic bring and share 10 August 2.30.p.m. the venue will be at Sue's at Shillingford.
August 2011. The August meeting was held at Sue's home Thank you to Sue and Alan for your kind hospitality.
The weather held out and we all enjoyed our picnic on the lawn. It was great to see Marg and Elsie back with us for the afternoon.
The next meeting being organized will be the visit to a nursery which will be on 14 September

September 2011. The members paid an afternoon visit to The Old Well where they enjoyed a lovely cream tea and a browse amongst the plants and all the goodies involved with gardening. Many came away with some brilliant new ideas I am sure. We all wish Myra a speedy recovery.
On 22 October we will be holding our Charity Jumble Sale @ 2.p.m. @ the Community Hall Come and see if you can find some small treasure to take home, and help our Help The Heroes fund The winter game of skittles with Huntsham will be 21 November 2011 7.30. for 8.p.m. Shillingford has to provide the supper. See if we can win this time (No bets please) The annual Christmas lunch will be held at the Exeter Inn 14 December 2011
The members met at Shillingford Hall and we welcomed back two members again who had not been able to attend of late. Details for the future skittle match were discussed, and it will be the Guilds turn to provide the food for the evening.
I hope the team that are playing will have had their spinach and will be in great form.
The names were also taken for the annual christmas lunch which will be held at The Exeter Inn
on 7 December 12.30.p.m. For 1.p.m. The things we have to bring gift/present and the competition a home made gift tag. (Who will have won that cup?) I will inform you next month.
Thank you Jenny for your demonstration and generosity, so many more things we have still to learn,
it was great watching you build your designs, something very different.

Skittles Match: Thank you Huntsham for the game and it has taken the Guild team How many years?? to achieve a win we have at last won by 25 pins. Thank you for all those members who provided supper and all the family members who had joined us to make the team. Well Done!!!!!! The Christmas lunch held at the Exeter Inn was great we all came away feeling quite full. Congratulations!!!! goes to Amy who has won the cup well done also to the runner up Shirley Kingdom 3rd place was taken by Joyce Cleeve.
