Bampton in Devon

Bampton Library

The Library is in Newton Square at the bottom end of Luke Street. It provides a range of facilities - including computer access to the Internet - three times a week. The library is housed in an old 18th century house - originally built by the Lord of the Manor - it seems it once served as the toll booth for the regular markets and for Bampton Charter Fair.

BAMPTON LIBRARY PROJECT: Currently, there is a proposal to move the Library into larger premises in the Old Schoolroom and to make it a sustainable Resource Centre for the long-term. A group of supporters (LARCS) has been formed, the building has been beautifully restored and refurbished and is open for business. The books have yet to be moved at a later date.
