The Bampton website (www.bampton.org.uk) was shown on the Big Screen for everyone to see by Humphrey Berridge and Bampton Town Council displayed some of the achievements of the past year –
the new Multi use Games Area, construction of which started this week – the new Kissing Gates in Barnhay/Mary Lane and the draft plans for the refurbishment of the Station Road Childrens Playground.  Copies of the Newsletters which BTC began to produce last year were also displayed, along with details of the latest Accounts.

The formal Meeting started with a summary from the Chairman of the events of the past year, followed by a report from MDDC and DCC Councillor Polly Colthorpe about Exeter’s bid to become a unitary Authority.  She also gave a brief review of the recent local planning inquiry and the current position.

A brief resume of the Council’s current financial position was given by the Clerk, followed by a talk by Martin Rich, of the Community Council of Devon, explaining why a Parish Plan would be a good thing for Bampton and how to start the ball rolling.

The MDDC Dog Warden, Phil Collins, told the audience about his work and he appealed for local residents’ assistance in identifying dogs and/or owners causing problems.
PS Rob Curtis of the Neighbourhood Police Team also asked residents to contact them with any problems.  He reassured the audience that they were in a low-crime area and gave surprising figures for the relatively few crimes reported in the rural areas of Tiverton.

A brief question session followed and the Meeting closed at 8pm.
